Who Does She Think She Is??

This is where I work........... Psssht! Yea right. Technically, I do work for this company, but I'm a desk jockey 90% of the time. In the particular instance you see above, I think my office pals and I decided it would be sweet of us to take popsicles out into the field to help the guys combat the Boiling Humidity Heat of Arkansas this summer. But don't be fooled - NEVER would ANYONE in this company allow me to touch ANYTHING out in the field. EVER.

I've told you I'm a recruiter, and the company I have worked for since October 2011 is an oil and gas services company. Ever hear of something called fracking? Or hydraulic fracturing? That's what we do. Kind of a controversial thing but I believe 100% that the people who are against it are the same people who know nothing about it. Don't be one of those people - read about it here. I work in one of the field offices for the US and I handle hiring for that office, and I support the other offices across the US. I also do some corporate type recruiting when my boss wants to make my life insane.

I've been recruiting since I was in college, so oil and gas is not my first recruiting rodeo. I've hired everything from heavy equipment operators to call center trainers to customer service people to senior sales people, and then some. It's pretty much the same idea for any position, different types just take different levels of patience and searching until the right person comes along.

I don't consider myself a great recruiter - I have the attention span of a 4 year old and I have no use for the minute details that good recruiters always catch. What success I have had in this career has been a result of lucking into jobs where I've had REALLY good mentors. I have one of those in my current job that you will hear about sometimes - he will be referred to as Jedi (but he looks more like the fellow below...jusssst kidding).

He's a freaking Star Wars geek to the thousandth degree but he does know a lot about recruiting so I will allow him to bear this nickname (until he drives me permanently insane, and when that happens his nickname will probably end up being something that is not suitable for print).

Anyway, my friends ask me stuff about interviewing, resumes, job hunting, and that sort of thing on a pretty regular basis (probably because I am the only person they know who hires people), so come back here to see what we're talking about!
